Background
Air conditioning is one of the largest electricity users at an exhibition and convention venue, where halls, meeting rooms and offices must stay cool for visitors and staff. Over time, condenser coils lose heat transfer efficiency, which forces compressors to work harder and increases energy consumption. At BITEC, two Daikin split-type air conditioners, each with a capacity of 48,000 BTU, have been in service for 9 years.
The solution: THERMAL-XR®
THERMAL-XR® is a graphene-enhanced coating from Graphene Manufacturing Group (GMG), designed to deliver superior heat transfer and protection for heat exchanger coils. The coating was spray-applied to the condenser coils of both split-type air conditioners, with no change to the equipment itself.
Results
Energy use was compared before and after coating:
- Electricity usage: 127 kWh/day before coating vs 103 kWh/day after
- Electricity cost: 17,383 THB/month before coating vs 14,167 THB/month after
